The BatCave North Returns, Again

This is for you.

I am beyond happy to invite you back to the BatCave North, where we come together to celebrate our outrageous uniqueness, with DJ Ivan Palmer, Toronto’s original Goth DJ.

The BatCave North was born from me, back in 1984, and it grew into something special long before the word Goth was even part of the conversation in Toronto. When the original BatCave sound came out of the U.K. in the wake of the Punk movement, it completely captivated me, and I am honoured to be one of the people who helped carry the BatCave and Goth movement forward here at home.

Over the years, I’ve also had the privilege of watching some of the people who came through those nights go on to become DJs themselves. If I played any small part in that, it’s one of the things I’m most proud of.

Fast forward to today, I now own and operate Disc Jockeys Unlimited, which keeps most of my time and focus. But I never stopped missing the dance floor of our BatCave North nights. Getting to co-create this space again, where all my Gothlings and Gothesses can come together, is something I genuinely love being a part of.

We had so much fun with our test run on August 8th. Something about that small room brought me right back to the underground clubs I loved in Montreal, close quarters, real connection, everyone actually there for each other. It reminded me why this matters. So we’re doing it again.

Saturday, September 5th, 2026, BatCave North returns to The Wych. Mark your calendar, spread the word, and bring your people. Let’s make this a regular home for all of us.

Meet the room where the bats come home 🦇

Tucked into Wychwood, The Wych is Toronto’s own cafe, bar, and creative community hub, the kind of place that feels like a well kept secret even when it’s full.

Cozy, warm, and unmistakably charming, The Wych is built for intimacy, think close quarters, mood lighting, and a crowd close enough to actually talk to. No cavernous warehouse energy here, just a room made for real connection.

We’re taking over both floors for the night, so come explore, find your favourite corner, and make yourself at home. Enter through the main door and step straight into the BatCave.

Craft cocktails, local beer, and a genuinely welcoming staff round out the experience, and on August 8th, this becomes our home for the night.

Small room, big energy, two floors to explore. This is what an intimate goth night is supposed to feel like.
